Monitored vital signs and applications

Themonitoringof theECGenablestheexistence of the followingto be checked:

  • Abnormalheartrhythm(arrhythmias).
  • Increaseinheartvolume.
  • Inflammationof theheart(pericarditisormyocarditis ).
  • Insufficientbloodsupplytotheheart.
  • Imbalancesin thechemical substancesof theblood that control cardiacactivity . (electrolytes).
  • Dilationofaheartwall.

The constant monitoring in real time of the heart rate is required after surgical procedure, as it enables action to be taken swiftly in the event of any development or crisis occurring with the patient.

Similarly, an assessment of the heart rate over time reveals the presence of not only heart ailments, but also other types of pathologies or deficiencies, such as:

Elevated heart rate at rest:
Possible dehydration.
Infections
Heatstroke.
Fever

Low resting heart rate: It may be a symptom of a problem other than the heart.

Erratic heart rate: It can be a sign of the presence of arrhythmias.

If the animal shows signs of unusual fatigue or tiredness, it may have heart problems.

  • Difficultiesinbreathing.
  • Acceleratedbreathing(tachypnea).
  • Slowbreathing(bradypnea).
  • A high breathing rateatrest can indicate a heart problem.
  • A low breathing rate can indicatetheobstructionof therespiratory tracts.

  • Detectionofbreathingproblemsduringsleep.

Temperatureisanimportantparameterformonitoringduringahospitalization.

Our device enables automatic and continuous Temperature monitoring and, as well as automating this process, the system enables the source of the heat anomaly to be checked through the acquisition of multiple parameters.

Themaincasesofuseincludethefollowing:

  • Detectionofhyperthermia.Episodesof a temperature tend to beaccompaniedby a higher heart ratethannormal .

  • Check thatthetemperature follows the normal circadianrhythmafter surgery oran infectious process . The body temperature has to vary dynamicallyaccordingtothetimeofday andthephysical activityof thepatient.

  • Follow-upon thedevelopmentofaninfectiousprocess.

  • Detectionofa heatstrokewith theenvironmentalthermometer included in the device combined withthedetectionofa high breathing rate.

Extra-monitored parameters and applications

The Dinbeat UNO system enables patient activity to be monitored over time and to discern if it is active or at rest.

In terms of health, this data alone can provide valuable information, but also complements alterations present in other parameters acquired.

The main uses in which this parameter is used are:

  • Monitoring recovery progress of patients, , as activity and rest periods can be observed , and, that way detect possible ailments still present , which prevent the patient from entering deep sleep.
  • Checkif a high heart or breathing rateisa symptomofa pathologyoran acute episode, or if it isa result of the animal being active and not at rest.
  • Check if there is an appropriate rest period. An adult dog must sleep for a few 14 hours whereas a puppy may need up to 18. If the animal sleeps for an amount of time other than these averages they, could experience some type of problem.

The posture adopted by the animal is a result of its physical and mental state.

Patients who display difficulties in breathing (dyspnea) tend to remain standing or sitting longer than usual in order to facilitate breathing. With our device, the time they spend in these positions can be assessed and checked against the breathing rate in those moments to determine if the animal has a pathology.

Determination of the rest posture:

  • Face upwards. Displays wellbeing and a lack of concern.
  • Sideways A relaxed position that enables them to enter deep periods of sleep.
  • Face down (sternal). In this posture, the animal is relaxed but alert.

Furthermore, the detection of the animal’s posture enables us to determine whether the alteration of other parameters is an anomaly or not.

Although barking is a clinical parameter, it has implications for some vital signs.

As well as providing valuable information, its detection also enables the emotional state of the dog to be determined.

These are some cases in which the detection of the Dinbeat UNO bark is used:

The development of a therapy for separation anxiety can be monitored.

Before an anomalous respiratory frequency, possible respiratory problems can be ruled out if the animal is barking.

Similarly, if the animal is found to be barking, it may be determined that there is no problem if their heart rate has increased.

TESTIMONIALS

"The use of Dinbeat UNO has been a great step forward in managing patient pain. Thanks to this system, constant handling of the animals can be avoided in order to check the status of their vital signs"

Antonio Salcedo Colmenares – Veterinary Cardiologist and Manager, Barnabaires Veterinary Hospital

"Thanks to Dinbeat UNO, I have been able to leave a dog monitored, and when it has had strange complexes in the ECG, I have been able to administer treatment, whereas if it had been administered immediately, it may have proved fatal"

Yasmina Irfheid Barros – Manager, Servicios Veterinarios Sarón clinic.

"The data that we can assess when patients go home safely is more real"

Marta Gil Hernández – Head Veterinarian, Margus veterinary clinic

"The system is very comfortable for the animal. It is also very easy and intuitive to see the changes in the charts"

David Nieto Redondo – Head of Cardiology and Diagnostic Imaging, Anicura Marina Baixa
